Thrust Bearing

  1. Measure crankshaft end play, using a dial indicator. If end play exceeds specification, inspect thrust washers and thrust surface of crankshaft. See CRANKSHAFT, MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. Replace worn parts as necessary. Thrust washer thickness is fixed. DO NOT change thrust washer thickness by grinding or shimming. Install thrust washers with grooved side out.
