Shift Position Console Switch
NOTE:
Shift position console switch also contains back-up light switch and neutral safety switch. Back-up light and neutral safety switch can also be checked when checking shift position console switch.
- Shift position console switch is mounted on driver's side of shift lever. See Figure . Remove console.
- Disconnect 14-pin connector from shift position console switch and note terminal identification. See Fig 1
. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between specified terminals or body ground in relation to shift lever position. See SHIFT POSITION CONSOLE SWITCH CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS
table.NOTE: Check continuity while moving shift lever back and forth in free play area of each gear position. DO NOT touch push button on shift lever when checking continuity.
- If continuity is not as specified, shift position console switch may require adjustment used when installing switch. Refer to the SHIFT POSITION CONSOLE SWITCH procedures under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If correct continuity cannot be obtained by adjusting shift position console switch, replace shift position console switch.
