Key Interlock Solenoid
- Remove lower panel from instrument panel. Disconnect 8-pin connector from main wiring harness and note terminal identification. See Fig 1 .
- Using ohmmeter, check for continuity between designated terminals with ignition lock assembly in ACC position in relation to installation of ignition key. See KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS table.
- Replace ignition lock assembly if continuity is not as specified, as key interlock solenoid cannot be serviced separately.KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS
Ignition Key Position Continuity Between Terminals Key Installed "A", "B" & "C" Key Removed "B" & "C" - Connect battery voltage and ground to terminals "A" and "B". Ensure ignition key cannot be removed with battery voltage applied.
- If ignition key cannot be removed, key interlock solenoid is okay. If ignition key can be removed, replace ignition lock assembly, as key interlock solenoid cannot be serviced separately.
