Component Disassembly & Reassembly: Countershaft: Inspection
- Inspect all parts for damage and wear, replace if necessary. Clean all parts in solvent; dry and lubricate all parts. 3rd/4th and 5th gears should be installed with a press before lubricating them.
- Measure countershaft at points "A", "B" and "C". See Figure . Use dial indicator to measure runout. Rotate countershaft 2 complete revolutions. Replace countershaft if runout or any part is not within service limit. See COUNTERSHAFT BEARING SURFACE SPECIFICATIONS table.

CAUTION:
Use a press to install 4th and 5th gears. DO NOT exceed a maximum of 5733 lbs. pressure while supporting countershaft on blocks. Lubricate all parts only after countershaft is reassembled.
