Removal (Vigor)

  1. Deactivate air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD .
  2. Remove pinch bolt from lower steering joint (in engine compartment). Remove lower cover and driver-side knee bolster. Remove upper and lower steering column covers.
  3. Remove steering joint cover. See Figure. Remove SRS wiring harness from underside of column bracket by removing clip. Remove cable reel assembly and turn signal canceling sleeve from combination switch assembly. Remove combination switch assembly.
    NOTE: Place combination switch assembly aside on floor gently. DO NOT disconnect cables from combination switch assembly.
  4. Disconnect wire coupler of ignition switch. Remove steering column assembly attaching nuts and bolts. Remove steering column.
