  1. Check for blown 15-amp fuse No. 13 (7.5 amps on coupe models) in underdash fuse box. Remove access cover in luggage compartment area. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect 3-pin connector from sending unit.
  2. Using voltmeter, connect positive lead to Yellow/White wire terminal and negative lead to Black wire terminal. Turn ignition on and observe voltmeter. Voltage should be 5-8 volts. If voltage is as specified, go to step 3). If voltage is not as specified. Check for poor ground, or open in Yellow, Yellow/White or Black wire.
  3. Turn ignition off. Attach a jumper wire between Yellow/White wire and Black wire terminals. Turn ignition on. Fuel gauge needle should move toward "F" mark on gauge. Turn ignition off within 5 seconds or before gauge needle reaches "F" mark. Failure to turn ignition off before needle reaches "F" mark may damage fuel gauge.
  4. Replace fuel gauge if needle does not move. If gauge tests okay, test fuel gauge sending unit.
