Fitting Pistons
- Using a feeler gauge, measure piston-to-cylinder bore clearance. If clearance is near or exceeds .002" (.05 mm), measure each piston and cylinder. If piston clearance exceeds service limit, rebore cylinder and install oversize piston.
- Measure piston diameter at a point .6" (15 mm) from bottom of piston skirt. If diameter is not within specification, replace piston. See PISTON DIAMETER table. See PISTONS, PINS & RINGS table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
