Legend & Vigor

  1. Check for blown fuse No. 13 (Legend) or fuse No. 1 (Vigor) at underdash fuse block. Remove access cover in luggage compartment area. Ensure ignition is off. Unplug 3-pin connector from sending unit.
  2. Connect positive voltmeter lead to Yellow/White wire terminal. Connect negative lead to Black wire terminal. Turn ignition on. Voltage should be 5-8 volts. If voltage is as specified, go to step 3). If voltage is not as specified, check for poor ground and open in Yellow, Yellow/White or Black wire.
  3. Turn ignition off. Connect jumper wire between Yellow/White and Black wire terminals. Turn ignition on. Fuel gauge needle should move toward "F" mark on gauge. Turn ignition off within 5 seconds or before gauge needle reaches "F" mark. Failure to turn ignition off before needle reaches "F" mark may result in damage to fuel gauge.
  4. If wiring is okay but fuel gauge needle does not move, replace fuel gauge. If gauge is okay, test fuel gauge sending unit.
