Pump Preload

Check power steering pump preload with a torque wrench after pump overhaul or installing replacement pump. Check preload with pump mounted in a vise. Maximum preload should be 36 INCH lbs. (4 N.m). If preload is higher than specification, pump must disassembled and inspected.
