Simulated High Speed Assist

  1. Check fluid level and belt tension. Start engine and let idle. Turn steering wheel from lock-to-lock to warm fluid. Stop engine. Disconnect hoses at speed sensor.
  2. Connect By-Pass Tube Connector (07406-0010101 ) to connect the hoses at the speed sensor. This will connect the cut-off valve and control unit to reservoir hose, which simulates speed sensor operation at driving speeds over 30 MPH.

  3. Attach spring tension scale to outer end of spoke. With vehicle on clean dry floor, start engine and let idle. Pull on tension scale until tires begin to turn. If turning force is less than 11 lbs. (5.0 kg), speed sensor is okay. If turning force is greater than specification check for a faulty speed sensor, sensor feed line restriction. Check steering pump and steering gear for restriction.
