SERVICE INFORMATION
- If the cooling fans run on an 1986-89 Integra when you turn on the A/C, but the compressor and the idle boost will not come on, chances are you have got an evaporator thermostat with excessive resistance. The next time this occurs (and it may only occur intermittently), connect the two evaporator thermostat wires together with a jumper wire while the engine is running. If the compressor and idle boost come on, replace the thermostat.
- Legend ALB reservoir caps are now available separately (previously you would have to buy the whole reservoir). The part number is 57196-SG0-801.
- When the need arises to adjust the timing belt tension on an 1986-89 Integra (such as a belt removal or replacement), make sure the engine is cold, How cold is cold? Carefully touch the oil pan. If it is over 100 degrees F (about the temperature of your baby's bath water), let it cool down some more.
- Even though there is a service bulletin on the subject, 89-005 , many 1988-89 Integra rear speakers are still being replaced needlessly. The problem is that small pieces of wire mesh fall in the speaker and vibrate, causing the buzzing noise. To remedy the problem, simply remove the speaker cover, then use a magnet to carefully remove the pieces of wire mesh from the speaker.
- Remember, an 1986-89 Integra that is hard to start when it is hot may be losing its residual fuel pressure due to a bad fuel pump check valve. See "Long Crank Time = No Fuel Pressure," Acura Service News ASN 1088-02 , October, 1988.
