Code 7 - Throttle Angle
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect alternator sense fuse in under-hood relay box for 10 seconds to reset ECU. Start engine and observe "PGM-FI" warning light. If light is off, problem is intermittent. Test drive and check again.
- If light is on, turn ignition off. Connect 3-wire test harness between throttle angle sensor and wiring harness. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Red (pos.) and Green (neg.) test harness leads (terminals). If voltage is not 5 volts, go to step 5).
- If reading is about 5 volts, measure voltage between White (pos.) and Green (neg.) terminals at wide open throttle. If reading is about 4 volts, go to next step. If reading is not about 4 volts, replace throttle angle sensor or repair short in Red/Yellow wire between ECU terminal C7 and sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Connect system checker harness between ECU and connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals C7 (pos.) and C14 (neg.) at wide open throttle. See Figure . If reading is not about 4 volts, repair open in Red/Yellow wire between ECU and throttle angle sensor. If reading is about 4 volts, substitute a known good ECU. If condition is rectified, replace original ECU.
- If voltage reading in step 2) was not about 5 volts, measure voltage between ground and Red terminal. If reading is not about 5 volts, go to the next step. If reading is about 5 volts, repair open in Green/White wire between ECU terminal C14 and throttle angle sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Connect system checker harness between ECU and connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals C13 (pos.) and C14 (neg.). If voltage is about 5 volts, repair open Yellow/White wire between ECU terminal C13 and throttle angle sensor.
- If voltage is not about 5 volts, substitute a known good ECU. If condition is rectified, replace original ECU.
