Fuel Evaporation System: Description

Fuel evaporative system minimizes the amount of fuel vapor released into the atmosphere. All models are equipped with a charcoal canister, purge control valve (integral with canister), purge control solenoid valve or thermovalve, 2-way valve, and connecting hoses and lines.

Fuel injected Legend models use a thermovalve to control vacuum to operate canister purge control valve, while all other model applications use an ECU controlled purge cut-off solenoid valve. Legend models also use an in-tank fuel cut-off valve and external liquid/vapor separator to prevent liquid fuel from entering the 2-way valve. See Figure & Figure .
