Rear Fail-Safe Relay Circuit
- Remove rear fail-safe relay and test. See RELAY TEST in this article. Replace relay if defective. If relay is okay, use a DVOM to check continuity between Black wire and ground. If no continuity exists, repair open circuit. If continuity exists, turn ignition on.
- Check voltage between Yellow/Black wire and ground. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Yellow/Black wire between fuse No. 17 and relay. If battery voltage is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect Pink 3-pin connector from rear solenoid. Check continuity in Blue/Black wire between fail-safe relay and solenoid. If no continuity exists, repair open circuit.
- If continuity exists, disconnect 21-pin connector from control unit. Check for continuity in Yellow/Green wire between relay and control unit. If no continuity exists, repair open circuit. If continuity exists, check for continuity in Red/White and Yellow/White wires between control unit connector and rear solenoid. If no continuity exists, repair open circuit. If continuity exists, replace control unit.
