Rear Fail-Safe Relay Circuit
- Remove rear fail-safe relay and test. See RELAY TEST in this article. Replace relay if defective. If relay is okay, use a DVOM to check continuity between Black wire and ground. If no continuity exists, repair open circuit. If continuity exists, turn ignition on.
- Check voltage between Black/Yellow wire and ground. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between fuse No. 17 and relay. If battery voltage is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect Pink 3-pin connector from rear solenoid. Check for continuity in Blue/Black wire between fail-safe relay and solenoid. If no continuity exists, repair open circuit.
- If continuity exists, disconnect 18-pin and 12-pin connectors from control unit. Check for continuity in Green wire between relay and control unit. If no continuity exists, repair open circuit. If continuity exists, check for continuity in Red/White and Yellow/White wires in control unit wire connector. If no continuity exists, repair open circuit. If continuity exists, replace control unit.
