Low Speed Assist

  1. Check fluid level and belt tension. Start engine and let idle. Turn steering wheel from lock-to-lock several times to warm fluid. Attach a spring tension scale to steering wheel at outer end of spoke.
  2. Ensure vehicle is on a clean dry surface. With engine at idle, pull on tension scale until tires begin to turn. Reading should be no more than 85 INCH lbs. (10 N.m) for the Integra. Reading should be no more than 48 INCH lbs. (6 N.m) for the Legend and Legend Coupe.
  3. If reading is higher than specified, stop engine and disconnect the hose between control unit and speed sensor at the sensor. Plug hose and sensor fitting.
  4. Start engine and let idle. Measure pull as described above. If scale reads less than 85 INCH lbs. (10 N.m) for the Integra or less than 48 ft. lbs. (6 N.m) for the Legend and Legend Coupe, replace sensor.
  5. If reading is greater than 85 INCH lbs. (10 N.m) for the Integra or 48 INCH lbs. (6 N.m) for the Legend and Legend Coupe, check steering gear and pump.
