Throttle Control Cable

  1. Loosen lock nuts on both sides of the throttle control cable bracket. See Figure or Fig 1 . Press down on throttle control lever until it stops.
  2. While pressing down on throttle control lever, pull on throttle link to check throttle control cable free play. Remove all free play by turning upper lock nut until it lightly seats on the throttle control cable bracket.
  3. While pressing down on throttle control lever, pull open throttle link. Control lever should move at exactly same time as throttle link. Tighten other lock nut nut to secure cable adjustment. See Figure or Fig 1 .
  4. BEFORE starting engine, depress accelerator to floor. Ensure there is at least .08" (2 mm) free play in throttle control lever. Check that cable moves freely when depressing accelerator.
  5. Start engine. With shift lever in Neutral or Park, throttle control cable lever should be synchronized with engine speed by gradually depressing accelerator.
