Ignition Timing

Check ignition timing with engine at normal operating temperature and with distributor vacuum hoses disconnected and plugged. At idle speed, Yellow mark should align with pointer. If Yellow mark is not present, set timing to specification. See IGNITION TIMING table. To adjust timing, loosen hold-down bolt and turn distributor.

Reconnect vacuum hoses and recheck timing at idle. Red timing mark should align with pointer. If Red mark is not present, set timing to specification. See IGNITION TIMING table. If advance is not as specified, check vacuum hoses and advance mechanism for obstructions, proper operation and damage.
