Steering Column: Inspection

  1. Inspect bushings for signs of wear or scoring. Upper bushing can be replaced. Hanger bushing cannot be replaced. If hanger bushing is damaged, replace steering shaft as an assembly.
  2. Inspect steering shaft for warpage. If steering shaft is bent, replace. Check universal joints for looseness. If loose or damaged, replace.
