Checking Function Of Transmission: Notes
NOTE:
The information can be used when all other troubleshooting has failed and the problem symptoms still remain.
HINT: Information for checking lost drive in other gears than 1st gear and reverse:
Lever carrier, standard
- D = 1st gear.
- L + Winter mode = 2nd gear.
- D + Winter mode = 3rd gear.
Lever carrier, Geartronic (MAN)
- Manual gear position = 3rd gear.
SYMPTOMS
| Symptoms | Cause | Action |
| 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear not working. | Brake band B2 is defective. | Replace the transmission. |
| 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear not working. | Free-wheel F1 or brake band B1 defective. | Replace the transmission. |
| 1st gear not working. | Free-wheel F2 is defective. | Replace the transmission. |
| Reverse gear not working. Engine brake does not work in lever position L , 1st gear and 0 % accelerator pedal position. Engine brake does not work in lever position MAN , 1st gear and 0 % accelerator pedal position. |
Brake band B3 is defective. | Replace the transmission. |
| No drive in lever position D . | Clutch C1 is defective. | Replace the transmission. |
| No drive in reverse and 5th gear. | Clutch C2 is defective. | Replace the transmission. |
| No drive in 3rd gear. | Brake band B4 is defective. Anchor bolt for brake band B4 is loose. |
Replace the transmission. |
| No reverse and 1st and 2nd gear. | Brake band B5 is defective. | Replace the transmission. |
