Shift Lock Solenoid: Installation

- Firmly install the shift lock solenoid onto the steering column jacket assembly and the cable shift cam assembly. Connect the electrical connector. See Figure .
- Adjust the shift lock solenoid (with the shift lever clevis in the Neutral position) as follows way:
- Pull out the tab on the adjuster block side of the shift lock solenoid. See Figure .
- Press on the adjuster block to compress the internal adjuster spring which disengages the adjuster teeth. Slide the adjuster block as far away from the solenoid as possible. See Figure .
- Lock the adjuster block in place by pushing in on the tab. See Figure .
- Inspect the shift lock solenoid for the following items:
- The shift lock solenoid must lock the shift lever clevis when the shift lever clevis is put into the Park position.
- Depress the brake pedal to move the shift lever out of the Park position.
- The solenoid will energize.
- Readjust the shift lock solenoid if needed.
- Install the knee bolster. See KNEE BOLSTER TRIM PANEL .
- Enable the SIR system. See AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
