13 53 240 Replacing Complete Injection Pipe (S85)

Special tools required:
- 13 5 281
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit; if necessary, work through test schedules.
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove fresh air duct. See 64 31 053 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING FRESH AIR DUCT .
- Remove intake air manifold. See 11 61 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD (S85) .
- Remove ignition coil covers.
- Release cable duct in V-chamber, unlock plug connections and disconnect, lay cable duct to one side.
Recycling
Fuel escapes when fuel line is detached. Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.
Slacken bolts (1)
Unlock and detach fuel line (2).
Unfasten screws.
Unlock plugs on fuel injectors and disconnect.
Remove both injection pipes (3).
Seal fuel hose with special tool 13 5 281.
Lever out retainers (1).
Pull fuel injectors out of injection pipe.
Installation:
Replace sealing rings on fuel injectors and coat with anti-friction agent.
NOTE:
Now clear the fault memory.
