Active Stabilizer Bar: Notes
REMOVAL
NOTE:
The stabilizer links, stabilizer bar retainers and bushings, and the stabilizer bar are serviceable. The new bar consists of the disconnecting unit and actuator attached as an assembly to the bar.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to: BATTERY DISCONNECT - DUAL 12 VOLT BATTERY SYSTEM .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the front air dam. Refer to AIR DAM, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- If equipped, disconnect the height sensor rod.
- Disconnect both stabilizer bar links from the stabilizer bar. Refer to LINK, STABILIZER BAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .NOTE:
Before disconnecting the stabilizer bar actuator wire harness connector from the actuator clean the outside of the connector with a cleaner and compressed air, to remove any dirt or debris.
1 - Stabilizer Bar Actuator Wire Harness Connector 2 - Stabilizer Bar Bolts - Disconnect the stabilizer bar actuator wire harness connector.
- Remove and DISCARD the four stabilizer bar bolts from the frame rails and remove the stabilizer bar.
- Remove the left and right stabilizer bar bushings and retainers from the stabilizer bar.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
- To enable a new Active Stabilizer Bar System (ASBS) module road test the vehicle until all indicator lamps stop flashing, then verify proper operation of four wheel drive and disconnecting stabilizer bar functions by actuating them electrically.
- Install four NEW stabilizer bar bolts.
