Sensor Range Charts

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

NOTE: Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance.
CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR RESISTANCE (1)

Application - @ 68°F (20°C) Ohms
Hitachi 1440-1760
Mitsubishi 2090-2550
(1) Measure resistance with ignition off.
CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR RESISTANCE (1)

Temperature Ohms
68°F (20°F) 470-570
(1) Measure resistance with ignition off.
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR RESISTANCE (1)

(1) Measure resistance across sensor terminals.
EGR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE (1)

(1) Heat sensor in water and measure resistance across sensor terminals.
HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) VOLTAGE (1)

(1) Measure voltage between HO2S center terminal and ground, voltage should continuously change.
(2) Information is not available from manufacturer.
HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) RESISTANCE (1)

Condition Ohms
Front (2) 2.3-4.3
Rear (2) 5.2-8.2
(1) Measure resistance between HO2S outer terminals.
(2) Continuity should not exist between center terminal and outer terminals.
INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR RESISTANCE (1)

(1) Measure resistance across sensor terminals.
THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR RESISTANCE
