Removal (Convertible)

  1. Disable SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
  2. Ensure front wheels face straight ahead. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove 4 screws on back of steering wheel retaining air bag module. Remove air bag module from steering wheel and disconnect air bag module harness connector. Always store air bag module with pad side up.
  3. Remove steering wheel retaining nut. Mark steering wheel and shaft for reassembly reference. Using steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel.
