DTC Test No. 21 - EVAP Emission Control System
NOTE:
Possible causes for DTC are: defective EVAP purge solenoid, loose connector, open or shorted EVAP purge solenoid wiring circuit, defective vacuum hoses or defective ECM.
- Check EVAP emission control system. See procedures in the SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article.
- If EVAP emission control system operates correctly, go to step 4). If EVAP emission control system does not operate correctly, check vacuum hoses, vacuum supply from throttle body, and EVAP purge solenoid. See procedures in the SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article.
- If any components are defective, replace as necessary. If all vacuum hoses, vacuum supply from throttle body, and EVAP purge solenoid are okay, perform DTC TEST NO. 22.
- Disconnect vacuum supply hose from throttle body for EVAP emission control system. This is the vacuum hose with Red strip, and is located on top of throttle body, closest to the throttle position sensor.
- Check that vacuum exists with engine running. If vacuum exists, go to next step. If no vacuum exists, check for restricted vacuum port on throttle body.
- Check defective vapor hose between fuel tank and EVAP purge canister. Replace vapor hose if necessary.
