Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) , Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) .
- Remove the drive belt from the generator. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
- Disconnect the electrical connector (4) from the generator.
- Reposition the protective boot (1) from the generator output terminal for access.
- Remove the generator output terminal nut (2) and disconnect the battery positive lead (3) from the generator.
- Remove the generator to generator retaining nuts (1).
- Remove the generator to generator bracket retaining studs (2).
- Remove the generator (3) from the vehicle.
WARNING:
To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
