Circuit/System Testing

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution .

Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module when performing this diagnostic. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .

  1. Ignition OFF, remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the harness connector at the cruise control switch assembly.
  3. Cruise switch ON, test for less than infinite resistance between the steering wheel supply voltage terminal 1 and the cruise control indicator dimming signal terminal 9 on the cruise control switch.
    • If the resistance measured is infinite, replace the cruise control switch assembly.
  4. Test the cruise control dimming indicator signal circuit for an open/high resistance between the BCM and the cruise control switch assembly.
    • If the cruise control dimming indicator signal circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
