Removal Procedure

    Fig 1: Identifying Intermediate Pipe To Muffler (2.2L)

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. If equipped with a 2.2L (L61) engine, remove the intermediate pipe to muffler nuts.

  3. If equipped with a 3.5L (LX9) engine, remove the rear catalytic converter to muffler nuts.

  4. With the aid of an assistant, remove the muffler from the hangers.
