Installation Procedure
NOTE:
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the front seat belt retractor (2) to the vehicle. Secure the retractor with the 2 bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the front seat belt retractor upper mounting bolt to 4.9 N.m (43 lb in) and the front seat belt retractor lower mounting bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).
- Connect the pretensioner electrical connector.
- Install the center pillar reinforcement (2) to the center pillar. Secure the reinforcement with the 3 screws (1).
- Install the front seat shoulder belt guide adjuster (1) bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the front seat shoulder belt guide adjuster bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).
- Install the front seat shoulder belt guide trim cover.
- Install the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT -- UPPER CENTER PILLAR .
- Install the front side door sill trim plate (1) to the vehicle.
- Install the front seat belt (1) lower anchor bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the front seat belt lower anchor bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft)
- Reposition the front seat belt lower anchor bolt trim cover onto the bolt.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
