Test F: Power Lumbar Support Inoperative

  1. Using DVOM, check SEAT circuit breaker (30-amp) located in instrument panel fuse block. If circuit breaker is open, go to next step. If circuit breaker is not open, go to step  3 .
  2. Repair short to ground in Orange wire between SEAT circuit breaker in instrument panel fuse block and up/down lumbar adjuster relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  3. Check H SEAT/LUM fuse (15-amp) in instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is open, repair short to ground in Orange wire between H SEAT/LUM fuse and lumbar adjuster switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  4. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe lumbar adjuster switch connector terminal "E" (Orange wire). See Fig 1 . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair poor connection or open in Orange wire between H SEAT/LUM fuse and lumbar adjuster switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  5. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe up/down lumbar adjuster relay connector terminal "C" (Orange wire). Lumbar adjuster relay is located under driver's seat. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminates, repair poor connection or open in Orange wire between SEAT circuit breaker and up/down lumbar adjuster relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  6. Check continuity of Black wires between up/down and fore/aft adjuster relay and ground (located inside left door sill, forward of left front seat). If continuity exists, replace appropriate adjuster relay. If continuity does not exist, repair open in appropriate Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
