Circuit Tests: A4
- Cruise control modules are located behind passenger glove box. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article before removing glove box. Disconnect Cruise Control Module (CCM) harness connector. Connect DVOM leads to terminal No. 5 (Brown wire) and terminal No. 8 (Black/Yellow wire) at CCM harness connector. See Fig 1
. Turn control switch to ON position. Test drive vehicle above 20 MPH. If 12 volts is present, go to next step. If no voltage is present, repair wiring or replace control switch.
- Turn ignition off. Connect DVOM leads to terminal No. 8 (Black/Yellow wire) and terminal No. 10 (Blue wire) at CCM harness connector. Turn control switch to RESUME position. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring or replace control switch as necessary.
- With ignition off, connect DVOM leads to terminal No. 4 (Red/Yellow wire) and terminal No. 8 (Black/Yellow wire) at CCM harness connector. Turn control switch to FIX/SET position. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring or replace control switch.
- With ignition off, connect DVOM leads to terminal No. 5 (Brown wire) and terminal No. 11 (Red/Green wire) at CCM harness connector. See Fig 1
. Turn control switch to ON position. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring, replace control switch, or replace brake pedal vent valve.
- With ignition off, leave DVOM leads connected to terminal No. 5 (Brown wire) and terminal No. 11 (Red/Green wire). Leave control switch set to ON position. Apply brake pedal. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace brake pedal vent valve.
- Turn ignition on. Using jumper wire, connect CCM harness connector terminal No. 6 (Brown/Red wire) to ground. See Fig 1
. Using jumper wire, apply battery voltage to terminal No. 7 (Blue/Red wire). If motor operates, go to next step. If motor does not operate, repair wiring or replace vacuum pump.
- Turn ignition on. Using jumper wire, apply battery voltage to terminal No. 7 (Blue/Red wire) at CCM harness connector. See Fig 1
. Using another jumper wire connected to ground, repeatedly touch terminal No. 12 (Green/Blue wire) at CCM harness connector. If vent valve does not click, repair wiring or replace vacuum pump. If vent valve clicks, check control unit, connector terminals and harness connector. Repair or replace as necessary.
